Telugu Movie Round-up 2013
M K Sinu
This year Tollywood
saw hit ticket-selling with Prabhas starrer ‘Mirchi’ early on, at one end, and comic noir act in ‘Swamy Ra Ra’ proving clincher
at BO at the other end. Tollywood experimenting?
Too early to comment. But, then a pattern clearly indicating it wasn’t just the
big movies (read star power loaded) that created the impact at BO. Fortunately, movie goers sidestepped films
veiled in the grab ‘being different’.
On a parallel note, end always breeds nostalgia for a year that has just passed. Fortunately, for Tollywood reflecting on the movies that released this year is mixed bag kind of sorts – a porridge of drama, action, & comedy. Illuminating moments for few and damp squib for others. Nonetheless, below is a pick of 10 movies which we feel made an impact - big, small, or and something in-between.
